Intention for the Month of August: For evangelization in the city. Let us pray that in large cities often marked by anonymity and loneliness we find new ways to proclaim the Gospel, discovering creative paths to build community.

Pope Leo XIV@Pontifax: I wish to express my closeness to the Colombian sisters and brothers who have suffered the effects of the recent
earthquake, which caused numerous deaths and injuries, as well as extensive material damage. As I pray to the Lord for the eternal repose of
the deceased, I assure you of my prayers for their families and for all those affected by this tragedy. I express my gratitude to all those working in
rescue and assistance efforts for those affected.

Pope Leo XIV@Pontifax: We must keep in mind two attitudes in our Christian life in order to be “wise architects” in building the civilization of love. The first guiding principle is to take up the cross of Christ as Good Samaritans, accompanying and helping to carry the burdens of so many brothers and sisters who are crucified by life’s trials. The second principle is to cultivate a Eucharistic spirituality, a spirituality of ecclesial unity in love.

Pope Leo XIV@Pontifax: Evangelization does not rely on the efficiency of structures or on social relevance, nor
even on the consensus that may be received at a given moment. Trust in the guidance of the Holy Spirit remains the essential aspect, following the paths He indicates in order to lead many people to Christ, to His word that saves, and to His love that renews life.

Pope Leo XIV@Pontifax:From the beginning of my pontificate, I have thought about a journey in Africa. I thank
the Lord for granting me the opportunity to undertake it, as Shepherd, in order to encounter and encourage the people of God, as well as to offer a message of Peace at a time in history marked by wars and serious and frequent violations of international law.

Pope Leo XIV@Pontifax: We thank the Lord for families who, despite difficulties and challenges, live “the
spirituality of family love made up of thousands of small but real gestures”.

Pope Leo XIV@Pontifax: Let us ask for the grace of a Lent that leads us to greater attentiveness to God and to the least among us. Let us ask for the strength that comes from the type of fasting that also extends to our use of language, so that hurtful words may diminish and give way to a greater space for the voice of others. Let us strive to make our communities places where the cry of those who suffer finds welcome, and listening opens paths towards liberation.
